2024 El Salvador - Day 2

Hello from El Salvador!

On our third day, we started at 7:00 a.m., loading the truck with the prefabricated house parts made of metal and concrete. We also loaded many tools and other supplies.

After breakfast, we got on the bus and were joined by several other volunteers who had experience assembling these structures for the families. After a few hours of driving about 40 miles northwest of San Salvador, we arrived at the site and met the family. They were wonderful and so appreciative.

We prayed for them and for a productive workday. Next, we unloaded the truck and began the work. We started by clearing an area, then laid out the foundation and placed the floor panels in place. Next came the walls and the roof, which were bolted together. After about four hours, we had completed building the house!

We took a break and shared our meal with the family. After lunch, we painted the house and installed some small solar lights. The house looked great, and the family is really pleased with our progress! We loaded up our tools and are looking forward to decorating the house into a home tomorrow!

On the way back to Sus Hijos, we stopped at Moody mission. Kenton Moody gave us a quick tour of the facility that helps transition young men from prison back into society. Thanks to Kenton and his team for their hospitality!

After dinner, we packed food for the neighboring community, which we will distribute tomorrow, along with some Bibles and clothing.

It was a long and tiring day, but it was the good kind of tired. We are so thankful for the gifts we receive and for the ability to share them with others.

Grace and Peace

Ernesto Trevino, El Salvador Missioner
