CHURCH OF THE HOLY APOSTLES
KIDS
COTHA Kids
Welcome to COTHA Kids, our ministry for Kindergarten through 5th grade.
At COTHA it is our mission that every child knows and loves Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We work to achieve this mission by loving and praying for every child, targeted programs, an engaging curriculum and special events.
Becca Rivas, Director of Family Ministry
Family Worship
Family Worship has a modified liturgy including sermon, singing and communion in a casual environment that will allow your child to act well…like a child! There is also time for you to connect with other parents in a similar stage of life over coffee and donuts either before or after the service.
Kids Formation
During our 10:30 a.m. service, our kindergarteners through 5th-grade kids get to experience God through their grade-specific Kids Formation Groups. This includes a Bible story, activities, and prayer time. Children return to the main service during the announcements and before communion.
Preparation for Communion
During COTHA's Preparation for Communion classes, children in 2nd grade and up will learn about the sacrament of communion while they're having fun! From a guided tour of the church to hands-on time with the elements of communion to unique activities that explore the eucharistic service from The Book of Common Prayer, children will thoroughly enjoy these experiences designed to help them join more fully with their parish community and the larger communion of saints.
This February class is held at 10:00 a.m. in the Kids Corner and includes one Saturday retreat. Children attend class for an hour and return to the sanctuary to be with their parents at the Peace.
Even if your child has been comfortable taking communion, this class will provide a background and understanding of receiving bread and wine in our Episcopal service.
Junior Daughters of the King
Junior Daughters of the King provides girls or young women (ages 7-21) the opportunity to grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus Christ while serving their church and community. They are an integral part of the Daughters of the King Order and the hope is that they continue the mission of The Order by transitioning to senior Daughters.
JDOK is open to all girls and young women ages 7-21.
